Blake Lost His First Tooth

Blake finally lost his first tooth! He has been asking and asking when this will happen and it finally did! I was not here when it happened because I was at work, but it's a pretty funny story. First of all, we had no idea it was loose. I had checked a few weeks ago and it wasn't loose at all. He was eating popcorn with Grand and kept saying there was something "crunchy" in his mouth. They all just assumed it was a kernal and he spit it out in the trash. Then Grand noticed that his mouth was bleeding and looked inside and saw the missing tooth. They quickly went to the trash and started digging in it to find the tooth. I was so thankful that I had taken out the trash before I went to work. It could of been a really bad and messy job. They found the tooth and everyone was happy! The Tooth Fairy brought $5 dollars that night for the first tooth with assurance it would be less for the rest of his teeth. We had fun talking about how Blake lost his first tooth right when Brooklyn was getting her first tooth!

We didn't have a pillow or anything for Blake to put his tooth in. He just put it under his pillow and hoped the Tooth Fairy could find it!

Blake's Music Camp

Blake participated in a summer music camp at The Heights Baptist Church called "Under God's Sea in 3-D." He had a blast and this was definitely a highlight of his summer. They went to the Dallas Aquarium and also to a local bounce place on field trips. They practiced their musical the rest of the time. Their performance was on Thursday night and we loved it. Blake did such a great job and we were sitting in the front row and right in front of Blake, so our pictures were good of him, but limited in getting all of the stage. He was selected to be one of the sea creatures up on front of the stage. He couldn't do all the hand motions, but he sure did try! We look forward to participating in the music camp again next summer!

Brooklyn's Tenth Month

This month Brooklyn has become very adventurous and is keeping us on our toes. She found her love of climbing and has starting climbing anything and everything! One day I was washing dishes in the sink and had the dishwasher open. I knew she was down on the floor playing with the bottom rack and a second later I looked over and found her standing on the dishwasher checking out the top rack.


She also loves to find an open door to the bathroom and takes full advantage of playing in the toilet that her brothers forgot to close and best of all, she loves the toilet paper! I'm constantly checking to make sure all the bathroom doors are shut.


Right after she turned 9 months she started self feeding for all of her solids. Bye Bye baby food.


She is the first child I have had to put in a permanent baby gate at the bottom of the stairs for. The temporary one that I slide through the balusters was not cutting it. She loved to stand on the first step and shake it. She also figured out how to move it and climb right up the stairs. After pulling her off the stairs multiple times in a row, we headed off that night to find a permanent solution!


Shopping has become a big challenge. Brooklyn will not stay in the cart seat. She insists on standing up in her seat and loves to try to crawl into the basket. The little buckle on the shopping cart doesn't stop her. Her brothers egging her on doesn't help either. Doesn't this trip to Target look like so much fun? Needless to say, I have limited my shopping trips with all 3 kids this summer.

Things have definitely gotten crazy keeping up with this wild girl. Brooklyn, you bring so much joy to our family. Happy 10 months!

4th of July Parade

Our neighborhood had its first ever 4th of July parade. I hadn't really given it much thought until Friday. I figured the boys would enjoy decorating their bikes and riding in it. So I ran to Party City on Friday to get some things. Unfortunately, we didn't decorate Friday evening and did it when we woke up on Saturday morning. The parade started at 9 and we didn't rush out of bed! Well we didn't have much time and we were only able to decorate Blake's bike. We threw some stuff on Ben's little bike, but he didn't care. He was still excited. It was threatening rain, but we only had a few sprinkles. The turn out was not that good, but everyone still had a great time. Hopefully it will be a yearly event and there will be more people next year. We ended in the cul-de-sac and there was a big water slide and popsicles that the kids enjoyed.
